My Plan
Five years to me seems like an eternity. To try to look ahead, let alone plan for that
lengthy time is unbelievable. In five years, I will be 23 and that scares me because time is
passing by way too fast. Growing up is scary and to have a set out plan makes it all the more
real. But being prepared is better than not.
Graduation is right around the corner and the typical step that follows high school is
attending college. Which is why I have applied and filled out my application for not only CSU
Stanislaus but for Merced College. I have already received acceptance from Merced College.
Two years at the college is in store for me and then I will transfer to my dream school; CSU
Stanislaus. Between those two years are many checkpoints I must first complete. In August I will
commence school majoring in Liberal Studies; a journey Im ready to embark on.
In the year 2016 I will meet with a counselor to review my Major Advising Plan (MAP). I
will continue my studies and finish the last few classes I need in order to be able to transfer. If all
goes to plan I will be able to transfer that incoming year. January 2017 I will complete the
application for transfer to California State University Stanislaus. But before I am actually
admitted to the the Liberal Studies program at Stanislaus I must take the WPST. When I have
then passed the Writing Proficiency Screening Test (WPST), I will be able to attend the school.
In May, I will graduate from Merced College with an Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies. I will
also take and pass The California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST).

Upon entering, I will have to complete 90 units and then register as a substitute teacher
with Merced City School District, Merced Union High School District and Merced County
Office of Education. In the year 2019 I will apply for the Credential Program at CSU Stanislaus.
That same year I will graduate from California State University, Stanislaus with a Bachelor of
Arts Degree in Liberal Studies. I would have taken and passed all three parts of the California
Subject Examination for Teachers (CSET). In August of that year I will start the Credential
Program.
January 2020 will commence my student teaching. I will take and pass The Reading
Instruction Competence Assessment (RICA). May 2020 will be the time in which I can begin my
job search. Edjoin.com will be where I search for any available teaching positions. My hope is to
obtain a teaching job by August so that I may commence teaching that year as an Elementary
School Teacher. The road to get from where I am today to this point of my life is long but I am
willing to do it; for I will become a teacher.
