Multi Modal Project

The purpose of this portion of the extended inquiry project was to challenge the student become more
diverse in the usage of other mediums of work including memes, journals, video games, posters, etc. in
order to convey an understanding for concepts of rhetorical analyses (logos, pathos, and ethos). The final
piece was supposed to persuade the reader to do, think, or feel something, and following there was to be a
1-2 page memo drafted as a final deliverable.
The project was conducted in three parts. The first part involved creating a decision matrix including a
number of solutions to the presented challenge, which totaled to only three relevant options: memes,
video games, and a poster board. After evaluating each option thoroughly, I ultimately decided to select
the video game medium because of my desire to code, and my past experiences with computer
programming. The second part of the project was to formulate a frame work for designing and developing
the video game that would incorporate the aspects required by the outline of this project. After a number
of days including the coding framework and debugging, I was about to develop a simple text parser game
involving the basis understanding for my extended inquiry: travel. The third and final part involved the
cosmetics of the website, which included the different phrases, descriptions, and responses depending on
what the user input consisted of.
This version of the Multimedia Project requirement was actually more developed and more time
consuming than I thought it would be. The game allowed me to refresh on a lot of aspects I've learned
over the years involving computer programming. I also ran into a number of issues with the overheating
of my computer, which set back the time frame development of the game to be complete. I feel as though
that by playing the game, an individual can feel an emotional connection to traveling and what it entails,
as well as makes the user desire to do just that: travel. In regards to how it relates to Chris, Chris wanted
to travel to Alaska to live an authentic life. Not so much Alaska, I also wish to travel, but to the 7
continents across the world, and in order to do so, we both must find/ develop our passions in life.

Sincerely,

X
