This essay shows the viewpoint of hardcore pacifists such as Abraham

Kaufman during World War II. Their writings and beliefs brought a
whole different look at war in general. What was the point of war if
hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians were going to die? The
pacifists believed in negotiating peace and finding a compromise
without any blood being shed. It couldve potentially prevented many
Jews from being decimated by the Nazis. There is evidence that the
U.S. has to take some responsibility in the genocide of the Jews. The
Nazis did things like threaten to kill 10 Jews for every one Nazi that was
killed. They did exactly that. How can factors such as that not change
your way of thinking?
The essay has definitely opened my eyes to the practicality of
pacifism. It could potentially save lives instead of taking them. Wars or
missions that we are partaking in are costing many innocent lives.
Attempting to seek peace could prevent peace. If it was attempted
more often, you never know what could happen. It was amazing to see
that the majority of the people who saved Jews from persecution were
pacifists such as Clarence Pickett. Instead being wrapped in the pride
of a total win, we Americans should be content with just peace even if
no side wins. They never have to. During World War II, the U.S. did next
to nothing to help out the Jews who were escaping their death. Pacifists
had to help provide passports or visas into the U.S. or other countries.
Most of the time the U.S. rejected them, which was terrible.
If we take the pacifists more seriously as people who just dont want to
see innocent people die for almost no reason instead of crazy people,
we may start to see a trend of peace instead of war.
