DAY 1
I. Journal Entry (about 7 minutes of writing time):
Discuss the role of technology in your life.
Discuss the frequency with which you use it.
Discuss what, specifically, you use or rely on the most.
How are you defining technology?
What problems do you observe (in life or society) regarding technology?
II. Inquiry Slide Show
III. Inquiry Activity
1. Break-Up in groups of four or five.
2. Take your assigned item, and brainstorm a list of potentially
interesting, researchable questions about your item.
1. What questions do you have about the thing (or things like it)?
2. Work toward questions that address the items uses or its
possible impact on people or the processes that led to its
creation.
3. Write your top 3 questions on the board.
3. After several minutes, each group will exchange items and generated questions
with a nearby group.
a. Spend a few minutes generating additional questions the previous group didnt
think about.
b. Write 1 best additional question youve generated on the board.
4. Return object and questions to original group.
5. As a class, discuss which questions are most researchable (page 29)
