M.O.C.A Member Weston Hipp wins SGA Election

elections are one of the most significant events that take place on campus every year. This year M.O.C.A
member and Treasurer Weston Hipp also known as Wes amongst his peers announced to the
university that he was entering the race to become SGA Treasurer. With a, Wolf of Wall Street theme
for his campaign and a slogan stating, Numbers matter, Men lie, Women lie, Numbers dont. Weston
began his quest to attain the position he wanted. Formally serving as The Men of Color Alliances
(M.O.C.A) treasurer, and not to mention being an accounting major, gave him a great platform and the
experience needed to not only win the election but to take on the responsibilities of such a significant role
in student life. His M.O.C.A position and membership not only allowed him to display his abilities and
gifts with numbers but also exposed the trait of outreach and community service within him.
During the weeks before Election Day Weston took to campus and began spreading the word
about his electoral run. Bestowing his official campaign poster everywhere he went and passing out
West Express cards which imitated the American Express black card, him and his campaign team
which included almost every member of M.O.C.A and several other outside supporters were doing all
they could to make sure the student body knew that Weston would be the best choice for SGA
Treasurer. I got a chance to personally see Wes in action as he interacted and reached out to students,
organizations, and even staff members of the university.
The Men of Color Alliance current President Isaiah Boone who also was a part of his fellow
M.O.C.A brothers campaign team had this to say about Weston, If he is really passionate about
something he will put his heart and soul into whatever it is too make it better. His actions and the effort
he put into his campaign all proved to be worth it on Election Day. On April 2 nd Weston Hipp was
announced the new SGA Treasurer for the 2015-2016 academic year. Surely this was a huge
accomplishment for him and everybody that supported him including the entire M.O.C.A organization.
