Highlights

1 / The atomization and dispersion of a turbulent jet of water into still air using an Eulerian model
written for the two-phase mixture is described
2 / The model was implemented in a parabolic code, well-suited for axisymmetric boundary-layer
type flow
3 / The model overestimated the decrease of the mean velocity along the axis of the spray but
captured successfully the evolutions of liquid mass fraction and Sauter Mean Diameters.
4 / In the far-field, the model provided auto-similar profiles close to experimental values.
5 / In the future, a Reynolds Stress Model will be used to better take into account the turbulence
anisotropy effects on droplets' dispersion.
