MULTI-MEDIA AUTHORING TEMPLATE

Name: Maggie Mozley

PART A: Describe how students could create and publish an original movie, audio file, podcast, or vodcast in order to achieve
required learning standards. Challenge: For an A provide an idea where the learning activity reaches a LoTi level 4a or
above. To do this you will have to design a project where students engage in higher-order thinking and publish their work to an
audience that will use or care about the results. Broad feedback for their work is also a great way to boost interest and
performance.

freedoms in a democracy. a. Paul Revere (independence), Frederick Douglass (civil rights),
Susan B. Anthony (womens rights), Mary McLeod Bethune (education), Franklin D.
Roosevelt (New Deal and World War II), Eleanor Roosevelt (United Nations and human

Brief Description of Learning Experience: After completion of the unit on Eleanor
Roosevelt, students will watch the short video detailing pictures from Eleanor Roosevelts
life and the video clip one of her greatest accomplishments, The Declaration of Human
Rights. Teacher will lead an in-class discussion about what students think of human rights
and what human rights means to them.
Student Engagement/Higher-Order Thinking: This lesson idea reaches a Loti Level 4
because students will write down their ideas taken during the in-class discussion and
upload these notes to the classroom blog so that other students can see different
viewpoints and ideas.
Importance of technology: Multimedia is engaging for students and the images give a
great timeline of Eleanor Roosevelts life. The video clip is a genuine speech given by
Eleanor Roosevelt which gives the students a real-life experience of how Eleanor Roosevelt
spoke and carried herself.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: Teachers using this lesson idea should make sure that
all internet browsers have filters and monitor students as they search for images and
YouTube videos. These safety measures would only need to be taken if the teacher decided
that students were going to make their own videos,
