ABSTRACT

Objective: To identify the association between, physicological factor, eating habits, and
physical activity with obesity among children aged 6-7 years old at the elementary school of
Yapenka,03, and 04 in Cipete Selatan. Methods: Samples from this analytic observation with
cross-sectional study which use stratified random sampling were 145 children aged 6-7 years
old at the elementary school of Yapenka, 03,and 04 in Cipete Selatan. Data for
physicological factor was obtained by using Strength and Diffilcuties (SDQ) questionnaire
which given to the parents to adjust 5 aspects of physicological factors like emotional
symptoms, conduct problems, hypereactivity, peer problem, and prosocial behavior. Data for
the eating habits was obtained by using Food Recall 2x24 hours questionnaire, and children
eating habits questionnaire to adjust calories intake, breakfast habit, eating fast food habit,
eating snacks habit, and eating fruits and vegetables habit . Data for physical activity was
obtained by using Children Physical Activity questionnaire (CPAQ) and other physical
activity questionnaire to adjust activity children like activity level, children excercise, and
watching television habit . Data was analysed by using the chi squared test. Result:
Retrieved from the results of the bivariate analysis of factors that are statistically associated
with obesity among children aged 6-7 years old at the elementary school of Yapenka,03, and
04 in Cipete Selatan; emotional symptoms (p=0.006), prosocial behavior (p=0.010), peer
problem (p=0.000), calories intake (p=0.001), breakfast habit (p=0,020), eating fast food
habit (p=0,031), eating snacks habit (p=0,021), activity level (p=0,024), and exercise
(p=0,000). Conclusion: Factors that are significantly associated to obesity among children
are emotional symptoms, prosocial behavior, peer problem, calories intake, breakfast habit,
eating fast food habit, eating snacks habit, activity level, and exercise.
