Supplement: Critique Assessment

Students will complete all tasks in preparation for a critique. As a closure, the
students will discuss their work and the pros and cons to using a grid.
Goal for Critique
Participants will follow the critique model to have a deep
understanding of the self portrait paintings being critiqued. Students will
review how grids can be used for measurement and how color can create
value.

The following are some questions that the presider may ask during the critique
process.
How are grid lines a beneficial tool of measurement?
Do you know any other ways measurement is used in art?

Color Mixing, having the proportional colors
to create the correct composition of the hue you want.
How did gridlines help you with your drawing?
What are some cons of using a grid?

How does color add to/affect your composition?
Tonal range creates depth and form to the figure

How does the value create mood in your image?
Warm vs. Cool Colors - Analogous
Meanings of colors: Red - passion, Blue - calm, Green natural
What is the difference between warm colors and cool colors?
