We live in the age of modern technology, a society that is
virtually dominated by wireless internet, wireless phones,
and wireless computers. Not a day goes by where you cant
find someone making a phone call, surfing the Web, or
streaming the latest TV show.
Since the turn of the twentieth century, technological
advancements have played a crucial role in our lives.
Perhaps the credit as to why we are so technologically
driven in society today is due to the grandfather of the
Internet Age: radio.
German scientist Heinrich Hertz first proved the existence
of radio waves in 1887. Years later, in 1895, Guglielmo
Marconi invented what he called the wireless telegraph. An
Italian inventor and electrical engineer, Marconi was known
for his work on long-distance radio transmission and for his
development of Marconis Law and a radio telegraph system.
He is credited as the inventor of modern radio and was
awarded the 1909 Nobel Prize in Physics for his
achievements. He succeeded in making a commercial success of
radio by innovating and building on the work of previous
inventors and physicists.
