The starting point of a program of professional
accounting education can vary. Many programs of
professional accounting education start at the postgraduate level. Other programs start at the immediate
post-secondary education level or at some point at a
higher education level that is below that of an
undergraduate degree. Many of these programs are
organized by professional bodies themselves rather than
by universities or colleges. Some programs recognize
work experience, mature students, candidates joining
the program part way through their career, and other
types of learning.
