    emergenceofsafetyconcernsregardingthebuildingstructure.Lotteexplainedtheirbuildingsafety
    reportsubmittedonJan.29tothecitycouncilthroughapresentation.TheChiefDirectorofLotte
    GroupsLotteWorldMall/Towersafetymanagementcommittee,SongDoHun,aimedtodebunk
    safetyconcernsregardingtheMallinthissession.

    Duringthesafetyassessments,wesawnoproblemswiththesafetyoftheLotteWorldMall,Mr.
    SongsaidtoMKNews,aKoreannewsagency.Neverthelesswellcontinuetomakeadjustmentsto
    severalbuildingfeaturestoimprovetheoveralllevelofconvenienceofthemall.

    ExpertsofrelatedfieldsofstudiesattendedthepresentationtocorroborateLotteswords.LeeSang
    Hyun,aprofessoroftheKoreaArchitectureAcademy,ParkHongGeun,thedeputychairmanofthe
    KoreaConcreteAssociationandotherbuildingexpertsexplainedtheresultontheassessmentregarding
    LotteWorldMallsstructuralstabilityafteracustomerreportedonavibrationthathe/shefeltinthe
    clothingsectionlastmonth.

    Thereasonwhypeoplefeltavibrationonthefloorwasbecausethelightingrailsinthelightingroom
    shook,Mr.LeesaidtoMKNews.Aftermeasuringthemagnitudeofvibration,wefoundoutthatthe
    levelofvibrationwasabout0.1percentofthelevelthatisconsidereddangerous.

    AccordingtotheKoreanpressNEWSis,eversincethenewlyconstructedLotteWorldMallin
    JamsildongopenedinOct.14,customersreportedseveralothersafetyconcerns.OnOct.27,ruptures
    werefoundonthefloorofLotteWorldMallsrestaurantsectiononthefifthandsixthfloor.OnNov.4,
    severalmoreruptureswerefoundonthehorizontalceilingstructureontheeighthfloorintheAvenuel
    Gallery.Finally,theaquariumshutdownafterwaterleakedfromtheaquariumcontaineronDec.9.

    IusedtovisittheLotteWorldMallregularly,SoominLee(9),astudentatSIS,said.Butnowthat
    Imfullyinformedofallthesafetyconcernsthatexistcurrently,ImtooscaredtogoandIthinkthe
    samegoesforalotofpeople.

    ThegeneraltrendseemstobethatpeopleareturningtheirbacksagainsttheWorldMall.Accordingto
    statisticsprovidedbyNewsway,aKoreannewsagency,thenumberofcustomersvisitingtheLotte
    WorldMalliscurrentlydecreasingperpetually.IntheopeningmonthOctober,approximately
    1,940,000visitedthemall.However,inJanuary2015,thenumberofvisitorshitaslowas1,060,000.

    Ithinkfearisdefinitelyservingasadeterrencetomostpeoplefromvisitingthemall,saidIrene
    Deshazo,anAdmissionsAdministratorofSIS.FearaffectedmetooIoncehadtogototheLotte
    WorldMalltobuyagift,andIwasveryscaredtogobecauseofnumerousrumorsofaprospective
    sinkhole,structuralinstabilitiesandotherdangersassociatedwithLottesnewmall.
