graduate school, 4 years of medical school, and
3 to 8 years of internship

Pay is equal to or greater than $187,200 per


year

Or $90 an hour

Job outlook is projected to grow 18% from 20122022, faster than average for all occupations.

Some colleges are increasing their enrollments


on the basis of a perceived higher demands of
physicians

Job growth will occur because of the continued


expansion of healthcare-related industries.

Work Environment
Many physicians work in private offices or
clinics, often with a small work staff of nurses
and administrative personnel.

Physicians work in group practices in large


hospitals where they share patients.

The group setting allows more time off and lets


them coordinate care for their patients.

Dermatologists are medical doctors who
diagnose and treat ailments of the largest organ
of the human body and advise patients on
achieving healthy and attractive skin.

Dermatological students first obtain a bachelor's


degree and take courses in English, math,
inorganic and organic chemistry, physics and
biology.
