In the article Reading and Writing Without Authority by Ann M.

Penrose and Cheryl

Geisler, these two authors write a statement about two students arguing for their beliefs of the
term paternalism and what it actually means according to what theyve figured out. In this article
paternalism means when a person is trying to explain something, but trying to connect with
another persons point of view. Paternalism is the action of one person interfering with another
person's actions or thought to help him (Penrose and Geisler, pg. 505). In this project Penrose
and Geisler write about two college students, Jane and Roger inferring on how their beliefs about
paternalism is very different than what really is. Jane, however, include the facts by recording the
authors belief of paternalism, as for Roger, he gets the facts from books and trying to proof the
knowledge when it comes to reading.
In this article I stay to believe that these two college students did the same thing and there
was no difference in my point of view. Reading the article I managed to agree for both of these
students because they both managed to explain the real meaning of paternalism. They both used
important facts and well stated information in trying to proof their audience correct about their
researched argument about paternalism. Overall these students corrected the true information
with their stated beliefs making me view how paternalism works and what it actually means.
