Crazy, Stupid, Love. Dir. Glenn Ficarra and John Requa. Perf. Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling,
Julianne Moore, and Emma Stone. Warner Brothers, 2011. Film.
The film tells the story of several relationships and problems those relationships have. The main
relationship is a couple whos been married for 25 years. The wife tells the husband that she
wants a divorce and then admits to cheating on him. There are other relations ships, such as a
boy who is in love with his baby sitter, a baby sitter who is in love with an older man, a teacher
and a married man, and more. I could use scenes from the film evidence showing how some of the
younger couple are affected and the older married couple may of made some mistakes when they
were younger because of a hyper-sexualized society.
Satrapi, Marjane. The Complete Persepolis. New York: Pantheon Books, 2007. Print.
This book is about a young girl named Marji who is forced to grow up in a government that has
many strict laws. As she grows older her parents worry that her rebelliousness could get her into
more serious trouble with the regime so her parents decide that she should leave Iran and
continue studying in a French school in Austria. Once there realizes quickly how their hypersexualized society is really different from Iran. I can use this book to show how negatively a
young teenager is affected when entering a hyper-sexualized society.
Sext Up Kids. Dir. Maureen Palmer. Rick LeGuerrier, Timothy M. Hogan. Dream Street Pictures,
2012. Film.
This film talks about the various ways that kids are forced to grow up in and the negative
consequences of growing up in that type of society. Some of the examples are how young girls
are almost forced by society to look older and sexier at a younger age. I could use this film to
show clear evidence of how a hyper-sexualized society affects both young boys and young girls.
