Social injustice and relief for the poor are my greatest concerns,
and Id like to have a positive impact on them in my career. With the
support of American Universitys education, opportunities, and
location, I am confident that I will be capable of bringing significant
change to the less privileged.
Growing up in diverse environments means having friends from
different backgrounds. Being exposed to poverty at an early age
sparked a sense of responsibility in me. As a child, my friends and I
were not concerned about our circumstances. As time passed,
however, our relationships remained the strong, but it was apparent to
me that the opportunities available to us would not be the same. I am
not okay with this. I know that American Universitys strong conviction
in serving the underprivileged will compliment my passion, more
specifically through the schools diverse academic programs and
internship opportunities.
I am still not sure of what career Id like to pursue but I want to
bring an open mind and my curiosity to AU. The vibrant and inspiring
community of the Universitys liberal arts program will guide me in the

right path. The abundance of political opportunities and internships

offered at American will not only provide me with the necessary
experience for my chosen career, but empower me to help others.

cultivates curiosity.
American Universitys location and reputation provide access to a
world of amazing internship opportunities in Washington DC. This,
combined with a liberal arts path is a unique combination that would
help me find the right career. Being in the same city as the World Bank,
The International Monetary Fund, and the Panamerican Health
Organization as well as all the federal agencies of the US Government

will provide me with a unique perspective into the roles these

could help.
