WPA provided jobs for
unemployed people!
Focused on building post
offices, bridges, schools,
highways and parks!
Gave jobs to artists, writers,
theater directors and
musicians

Federal program with social


insurance and benefits that was
developed in 1935 !
It was developed to help families
who couldnt support themselves!
Originally part of President Franklin
Roosevelts plan to bring America
out of the depression!
Its still here today and is now
funded by payroll taxes
