How Does Temperature affect respiration rate on Goldfish?

1. Goldfish breathe by taking water through its mouth and then they let it out from their gills
which helps them breath. Goldfish obtain oxygen from the water. The Goldfish needs to transfer
the oxygen from the water into their bloodstream. Cellular respiration has to do a lot with this,
cellular respiration is a process that breaks down sugar that the cell can be use as energy. It takes
in food which makes sugar and uses it to create ATP. To get that energy you need oxygen to
break down the sugar. The goldfish survive in at a temperature between 10 degree Celsius and 12
degree Celsius. Fish are cold blooded, they can survive in any temperature they are put in as long
as it's not too hot or too cold. Cold blooded is a body temperature that is similar to the
temperature of its environment.
Hypothesis:
If we put the goldfish in low temperature then the goldfish respiration rate will decrease.
Materials:
-1 beaker: goldfish
-thermometer
-1 beaker with ice
-hot plate
-timer
Procedures:
Step 1: get the materials
Step 2: get the fish in the beaker
Step 3: start with the temperature at 23 degree Celsius (room temperature)
Step 4: we time the respiration rate,( respiration rate is number of breaths taken per minute)
Step 5: we change the temperature to 30 degree Celsius
Step 6: we time the temperature
Step 7: we change the temperature to 15 degree Celsius
Step 8: we time the temperature
Step 9: then change the temperature to 7 degree Celsius
Step 10: we time the respiration rate
Step 11: DO NOT KILL THE FISH!!!
