Prompt:
The term Post-Impressionist is a broad, and often too vague of a term when
used to describe certain works created in the years following the Impressionist
movement. Compare and contrast Bathers Asnires by Georges Seurat with Large
Bathers by Paul Czanne, making sure elucidate their stylistic and directional
divergences and similarities from Impressionism as well as each other.
Thesis:
While both Seurat and Czanne utilize fragmentation of color to interpret how we,
as people, perceive a scene, Seurat does so with scientific precision to show distinct
forms and characters, while Czanne takes a more physical approach to merge his
characters and shapes together into a large continuum.
