Highlights of Operations
Chevron is the largest producer of natural gas in Bangladesh, supplying approximately 50 percent of the countrys natural gas
consumption. We are the largest foreign investor and the highest corporate taxpayer in Bangladesh.
Through our subsidiaries in Bangladesh, we produce natural gas and condensate from three fields in the northeast of the country.
We have increased production tenfold in the last decade to meet the countrys increasing demand for natural gas, with plans for
further production growth. In 2014, the $500 million Bibiyana expansion project is scheduled to begin production.
Chevron Bangladesh has achieved a remarkable safety record while employing more than 4,000 Bangladeshis. We work with our
communities across our operations, building long-term partnerships that foster social and economic development in the country.

Business Portfolio
Exploration and Production
All the natural gas and condensate Chevron produces in Bangladesh is sold to Petrobangla, the national oil company. Through
Chevron subsidiaries, the company operates three fieldsBibiyana, Jalalabad and Moulavi Bazarunder production-sharing
contracts signed with Petrobangla. In 2013, net daily production averaged 663 million cubic feet of natural gas and 2,000 barrels
of condensate. Condensate is liquid hydrocarbon produced with natural gas.
Putting Innovation to Work
Chevron operates the Bibiyana Field in Block 12. The field is one of the most significant natural gas discoveries in Bangladesh,
in both quality and size of the reserve.
The Bibiyana expansion project involves installation of two gas processing trains, additional development wells and an enhanced
liquids recovery facility. The project is designed for a capacity of 300 million cubic feet of natural gas and 4,000 barrels of
condensate per day. First production is expected in late 2014.

In the Community
In areas where we operate, Chevron Bangladesh invests in activities and programs that focus primarily on economic development,
education and health care. Our social investment initiatives affect the lives of approximately 30,000 people in Bangladesh.
We carry out most of these projects in partnership with leading nongovernmental organizations (NGOs). Our employees also
participate in many community development projects.

Improving Livelihoods
Most of Chevrons social investment programs in Bangladesh focus on improving the quality of life and economic opportunities
for the communities where we work. Our economic development programs collectively support about 4,000 families living near
the three fields we operate. Chevron launched the Alternative Livelihood Program for underprivileged families in Bibiyana in
2006. The program was then replicated in communities near Chevrons two other fieldsMoulavi Bazar in 2008 and Jalalabad in
2010. These programs have organized villagers into self-help groups and provided skills training and seed funds that have
launched a variety of small and medium-sized enterprises.

Chevron also supports the Alternative Livelihood Options program, which offers families energy-efficient cooking stoves and
solar panels. This project is reducing energy costs in 1,000 households and 10 schools in seven villages near the Bibiyana and
Moulavi Bazar fields. Families use their savings in household fuel and lighting costs to set up micro enterprises.
In 2013, the Community-Driven Green Initiative was launched in 22 villages near the Bibiyana Field. Approximately 200
households are taking part in the project, which aims to boost the production of organic and high-yield fruits, vegetables, other
cash crops and pond fish.
These initiatives have been developed in partnership with local NGOs such as the Institute of Development Affairs, Prochesta
and the Center for Natural Resource Studies.
In late 2013, a two-year initiative was launched to provide skills-based training and job placement opportunities for mostly
unemployed youth and women living in 600 households near the Bibiyana and Jalalabad fields.

Creating Educational Opportunities

Chevron strives to improve the quality and availability of education for students around our operations. Our scholarship drive for
high-achieving underprivileged students was launched in 2001, and the numbers have steadily increased since then. In 2013,
we funded more than 1,500 scholarships for students in 35 schools and an indigenous community. We also support programs to
improve childrens learning experiences, including computer learning centers in two schools near the Bibiyana and Moulavi
Bazar fields and funding for school uniforms, sports equipment and school furniture.
In 2013, through our partnership with Save the Children, we helped launch the first phase of the Shikhon nonformal pre-primary
education program in communities near our Bibiyana, Jalalabad and Moulavi Bazar fields. Plans call for 60 one-room schools to
be set up for 1,800 out-of-school children who will start with preschool and complete the first grade. In addition, 1,200 primaryschool students will benefit from after-school activities and remedial education.

Improving Public Health

Working with the international NGO Pathfinder International, Chevron has supported three community clinics near its Bibiyana
and Moulavi Bazar fields since 2005. The clinics are part of the nationwide Smiling Sun Franchise Program sponsored by the
U.S. Agency for International Development. These clinics, along with a network of 34 satellite locations, provided nearly 130,000
individual health care services in 2013.

Being a Good Neighbor

Chevron employees are active members of the community. In 2013, nearly 900 staff donated blood in Chevrons annual drives,
which were organized with the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society. The society recognized Chevron as Bangladeshs largest
corporate blood donor. Also in 2013, Chevron helped plant more than 13,000 saplings on roadsides and at schools and clinics
near Chevrons Bibiyana, Jalalabad and Moulavi Bazar fields.
Immediately following the devastating collapse of a garment factory complex in April 2013, Chevron Bangladesh assisted in
search and rescue efforts. Employees also made cash donations to support the affected families.

Record of Achievement
Chevron contributes to the economy of Bangladesh in several ways. We are the largest foreign investor and provide
employment for about 4,000 Bangladeshis. In addition, Chevron was recognized as the highest corporate taxpayer in
Bangladesh for fiscal years 2010, 2011 and 2012.
Chevron has developed three natural gas fields in Bangladesh. The Jalalabad Field was discovered in 1989 and went into
production in 1999. The Moulavi Bazar Field was discovered in 1999 and came on line in 2005. The largest producing field in
Bangladesh, the Bibiyana Field, was discovered in 1998 and came on line in 2007.

In 2014, Enterprise Asia, a nongovernmental organization that promotes entrepreneurship, presented Chevron Bangladesh with
its Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Award for Social Empowerment. Announced at a ceremony in New Delhi, India, the
award recognizes the company for its corporate responsibility initiatives.

Health, Environment and Safety

Chevron Bangladesh has maintained a remarkable safety record. In November 2013, our workforce achieved 50 million workhours without a single day away from work due to an injury.
Chevron partners with the government of Bangladesh and with the national oil company, Petrobangla, to develop the countrys
energy resources in a safe, environmentally responsible manner. To protect the environment, Chevron uses the latest
technologies and strict inspection procedures to ensure safe operations.
