Short Term Goals:

My first short term goal is to learn more about the mathematics learning continuum
for the common core standards. I want to increase my understanding of how
students are introduced to concepts at an early age and how the understanding of
concepts and skills develops throughout the K-5 grades. Most of my teacher
training has focused on middle grades and I can more effectively scaffold lessons
and build deeper understanding with more familiarity of the primary grade math
progression.
By September of this year, I plan to attend at least one professional develop
pertaining to the math learning continuum. I also intend to complete two books on
the same topic and analyze how the developmental math content matches my
classroom curriculum. I expect to increase my knowledge of the strategies and
methods for teaching K-5 content and use technology tools to develop math center
activities and projects to introduce, reinforce, and practice foundational skills.

Long Term Goals:

Over the next few years, Ill be working to transition to a STEM leadership position
within my school or network and enhance my knowledge of science and engineering
content areas. I plan to attend STEM leadership workshops such as the STEM
Think Tank and Conference. I also plan to identify and enroll in additional STEM
training that would allow me to improve my foundation in engineering and science.
After completing this training, I hope to transition into a position that would allow
me to support teachers in the implementation of technology to enhance daily
classroom instruction in STEM content areas.
