McCarthy: Date still uncertain on RFS

6/25/14 1:31 PM EDT

EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy gave no new deadline for the release of the agency's final
2014 Renewable Fuel Standard rule, but she told reporters today the agency is still working on it.
McCarthy had previously expressed a desire to release the final rule in June, but it still has not
gone to the White House Office of Management and Budget for interagency review.
"Yeah, I'm hoping to get that out soon. I know that people are concerned about it, but I also
know that there was a ton of comment on our proposal and we need to get this right,'' McCarthy
said after this morning's House oversight hearing.
"There's great concern about whether or not we're going to do it in a way that's going to continue
progress towards renewable fuels, and that's my goal, and that's what we're hoping to be able to
accomplish in the final" rule, she said.
"We're still trying," McCarthy said.
Asked if the agency expected to have the rule out in late summer or September, McCarthy said,
"Oh, no, we actually had hoped to get it out earlier than that, but we're working on it. That's all I
know at this point."
