Always use of the newest content.
The duration of the upgrade is reduced to one to two hours, as

BW systems is no longer necessary as only content-relevant
objects are imported.
SAP BW Business Content developments and enhancements
are available at shorter intervals.
Changes in the Support Package procedures separation of
Support Packages for the SAP BW Technology and SAP BW
Content permit independent imports and tests of Support
Packages.
The Add-On release will be available for download from the SAP
Service Marketplace, which eliminates time for delivery and
customs duties.
NetWeaver2004s BI Content Add-On 2 / 3 Released

for mass shipment
As of 30.10.2004, SAP NetWeaver 2004s, BI Content Add-On 2 is
released for ramp-up customers. With mass shipment of
NetWeaver2004s, most actual BI Content Add-On (NetWeaver2004s BI
Content Add-On 3) is shipped to customer as the separate DVD within
the NetWeaver2004s software package.

If you want to upgrade to NetWeaver2004s BI Content Add-On

Release, we generally recommend you to install the latest
SAP_BW Support Packages.
NetWeaver2004s stack 5 is the prerequisite for installing
NetWeaver2004s BI Content Add-On 2 support package 1.
NetWeaver2004s stack 7 is the prerequisite for installing
NetWeaver2004s BI Content Add-On 3 support package 1.
Ordering of Add-On Software

Three possible channels for ordering the Add-On Software:
1. The upgrade Software for BI Content Add-Ons will be available
for download from the SAP Service Marketplace
-> alias: swdc Installations and Upgrades SAP NetWeaver
SAP NETWEAVER SAP NETWEAVER2004S
2. The upgrade Software for BI Content Add-Ons can be ordered via
OSS
-> component: xx-ser-swft-ship
3. The upgrade Software for BI Content Add-Ons can be ordered via
Software catalogue

Support Packages
Split into two separate support packages: BI Content Add-On

support packages and BI Technology support packages.
There is no automatic dependency between BI Content Add-On
support packages and BI Technology support packages.
For each new BI Content Add-On version we recommend that
you install the latest BI Technology support package.
Future dependencies are communicated together with the
relevant support packages.

Before SAP BW Business Content can be used productively, it

has to be activated !!!
SAP Business Content Delivery - Version

Objects of the Business Information Warehouse are run in versions to be
able to edit, execute and deliver different characteristics for an object in
parallel.
The objects of the Business Content are delivered in version D(elivery)
Changes are store in M(odified) version; Data is stored in A(ctive) objects
An upgrade of the Business Content does not affect the objects which
are in productive use!

Business Content Objects Particularity

Most of the delivered Content Objects dispose of:
A -Version
= active
D -Version = delivered
M -Version = modified
Exceptions:
z
Transferstructures do not have D-versions, they have shadow tables
Roles do not have D-Versions

A-version = SAP_BWC_* (only for customer systems relevant)
D-version = SAP_BW_* (will be delivered)
Only A version objects are exported from the development system

These objects are imported into the target system into either the A-Version or
M-Version, depending on the object type. The M -Version objects are activated after
import. Examples are:
A -Version : Currency translation type, InfoObject Catalog
M -Version : InfoObject, InfoCube
SAP Business Content Delivery - Upgrade

An Upgrade to take advantage of the new features:

Upgrading BW Business Content corresponds to a functional

upgrade:
z No effect on the complete Business Content with all information
models
z Can be performed selectively (see step-by-step )
How to activate a new Version of BW BCT ?

Two Transfer Methods
The customer can compare the new content with the active customer
version and either install the new version or merge it with the customer
version.
Install = The SAP BW Business Content in the A -Version will be overwritten completely
(a copy of the new Version is inserted), changes/modification which were done
to the prior SAP BW Business Content will be lost completely.
