POINT PAPER: Blog Meetings and Shadowing

Subject. This week I attended three blog meeting with the PR &
Marketing team and I shadowed two members so the marketing team.
Background. Attending meetings and shadowing colleges is a good way
to learn about all aspects of the organization. When you sit at a desk
all day you get wrapped up in your day to day tasks instead of learning
as much as you can.
Discussion.
On the first day of the week I went to three blog meetings. The First
one was the Monday breakfast meeting that goes over the events in all
the departments and how Childrens National wants to cover them.
This is a big meeting because the VP attends to talk to the lower staff
about how everything is going.
The other two meeting were training and updated information about
the blog emersion project. I learned how to place old blog posts into
the new system and when it would officially go live. The tutorial was a
little confusing because I do not know a lot of code but it was a very
good skill to learn.
On the second day of the internship I shadowed two members is the
marketing team Caitlyn and Hannah. I learned about what the
Marketing department does and the difference between and email
pitch and a phone pitch. I did not know it differed by the type of
industry. In the medical field you do phone pitches, but for other
sections of PR you may do phone pitches.
Recommendation.
The ninth week of my internship I learned always carry a notebook and
a pen. If you have any questions ask especially if they relate to your
major. Sample topics include:

Difference between health care and agency pitches

How to write an email pitch

Biggest problems in health care
