Highlights of the Week: February 1 – 5

Reading: The students set new AR goals for the month of February.

Math: The students are reviewing multiplication concepts.

Language Arts: The students are studying the use of figurative language in writing such as
similes, metaphors, idioms, and alliteration.

Science: The students studied facts about the moon.

Social: The students started studying the Winter Olympics.

I conferenced with each student last Thursday to review their individual results of the
recent MAP Tests in Reading and Math. Each student set a goal to work towards completing for
the spring MAP tests in MAY. I will discuss the MAP goals and test results during our
conference on February 25, 26 or March 1.

Valentine boxes and cards can be brought to school on Wednesday, February 10. We will
open our Valentines on Thursday, February 11 during the morning. The schedule has changed for
the bowling and museum trip. We will bowl from 12:00 to 1:30 and tour the museum exhibit from
1:45 – 2:45 on Thursday, February 11. Please let me know if you would like to volunteer.

Thank you to all students who donated money towards Kids Against Hunger during Hat
Day last Wednesday. We will have Dress Crazy Day on Wednesday, February 10. Students may
donate $1 to dress crazy.

Events:

Wednesday, February 10: Students may donate $1 to dress crazy. Valentines boxes and cards
may be brought to school.

Thursday, February 11: Open Valentines during the morning. Bowling at 12:00. Museum tour at
1:45.

Monday, February 15: No school due to President’s Day.

Thursday, February 25: Early out for students. Conferences from 5:00 – 8:45 p.m.

Friday, February 26: No school for students. Conferences from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Monday, March 1: Conferences from 5:00 p.m. – 8:45 p.m.
