Replacement of the E.8th Street (Guider Avenue) Access Ramp
over the Belt Parkway Project No.HBK668R Brooklyn – Community Boards 13 and 15 February 2010 On or about February 17th, 2010, DOT will begin the replacement of the East 8th Street Access Ramp over the Belt Parkway (also known as the Guider Avenue Bridge). The bridge deck (concrete road surface), the steel structure, bridge columns and footings will be replaced, and the bridge abutments will be replaced or repaired. The new bridge will meet modern safety standards include an improved walking/biking path and have a 75-year life. The anticipated completion date is May, 2011.
Full vehicular and pedestrian closure on or about February 17, 2010
Drivers heading for the west-bound Belt Parkway: • Head north on Coney Island Avenue • Turn left onto Avenue Z • Turn left onto Hubbard Street • Bear right onto the Shore Parkway Service Road (see picture below)
All pedestrians will use Coney Island Avenue
