BANGLADESH visit oF ‘*nSMEoflndia Tea, “Seminar on SME Development: Role of an Effective SME Association” Date: November 22, 2014; Venue: IDEB Bhawan, Kakrail, Dhaka Minute of the Meeting Date: 29 october.2014; Venue: BIBM, Dhaka A meeting regarding the above program was held at Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM), Dhaka on October 29, 2014 at 12:00pm. The meeting was presided over by Dr. Toufic Ahmad Choudhury, Director General, BIBM. Mr. Sukamal Sinha Choudhury, SME Faculty Consultant of BIBM, Mr. M.A. Matin, DG, Rural Development Academy (RDA), Bogra, Mr. AKMA. Hamid, President, IDEB, Mr. Kazi Md. Shafiqur Rahman, Consultant, DCCI, Mr. A.Q.M Kibriya, DMD, BASIC Bank Ltd, Mr. Md, Abul Bashar, DGM, SMESPD, BB, Mr. Hossain Shahbaz, Director, CIRDAP, Mr. Ashraf Al Mamun, Associate Professor, BIBM, Mr. Zahid Ibne Hai, Head of SME, IDLC Finance Ltd, Mr. Mahadhi Hasan, BWCCI and other representatives from the related organizations were present in the meeting, (Detail-list is attached) In the beginning, DG, BIBM was requested to Chair the meeting. DG, BIBM welcomed all and requested the participants to introduce themselves. Later, Mr. Sukamal Sinha Choudhury made a brief introduction of the program. He mentioned that there are many integrated and dedicated associations on MSME working globally; one of such associations is lam$ME of India (Integrated Association of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise of India). Mr. Sinha Choudhury told that due to continuous communication, interaction and being influenced by forward-looking attitude, Chairman of lamSME of India Mr. Rajive Chawla has agreed to come to Bangladesh with a seven member team comprising representatives from various SME sectors. Honorable Chairman of lamSME of India will make deliberation and exchange views, ideas with Bangladeshi SME entrepreneurs and Business Leaders. Mr. Chawla in his deliberation will give emphasis on the role of a ‘Model’ MSME Association. This will comprise of areas like - how to create an Effective Association for SMEs, Relationship of Association with Govt., Regulators, Policy Makers, Banks and other Stakeholders. The team members will also deliver sessions on different issues like Quality Control Systems, Energy Efficiency, Energy Audits and Carbon Footprint analysis, IT for SMEs, Women Entrepreneurship Development ete. After deliberation, distinguished speakers, special guests will make their remarks on deliberation which will be followed by open floor discussions. Thereafter, Chairman and his team will sit for B2B meeting with Bangladeshi Entrepreneurs, Business Leaders and representatives from different Trade Associations, There will be Field Visit on 23 Nov, 2014 to Bogra for the visiting team. DG, RDA has been kind enough to cooperate in the field visit by providing necessary logistics. ‘The meeting expressed their satisfaction for the kind consent of the Honorable Governor in regard to his presence in the program as Chief Guest. The meeting also decided to invite distinguished personalities and business leaders as Special Guests and Discussants. The meeting discussed all the related issues thoroughly in arranging the program in a befitting manner and finally decided to coordinate the visit program to make it a success. After thorough discussion the following decisions have been taken: 1. Venue: The Seminar will be held on 22"! November 2014 at the Institute of Diploma Engineers of Bangladesh (IDEB) Bhawan, Kakrail, Dhaka and President, IDEB agreed to sponsor the venue. BANGLADESH visit oF [4*nSME[lndie Tear, 2. Participant SME Associations, Chambers, Women Chambers, SME dedicated Banks and NBFls will be invited to the program. Invitation list will be finalized by the committee and number of the invitees will not exceed 300. Prior communication may be made with the Associations and efforts are required to be taken for ensuring spontaneous participation of the invited guests. 3. Lunch & Refreshment: IDLC finance Ltd. was requested to sponsor the Lunch/refreshments 4. Event Management: Following Event of Photography and Program Video for Dhaka and Bogra will be arranged and managed by CIRDAP ii, Printing of Invitation Card (Design will be finalized by the committee) will be arranged by BASIC Bank Ltd iii. Printing of Banners, Posters (Design will be finalized by the committee) will be arranged by DCCI iv, Folders, Pen, Note Book, seminar materials (finalized by the committee) will be arranged by BWCCI y. Decoration of Auditorium of IDEB including arrangement of sitting, microphone, multimedia etc. will be arranged by IDEB and BASIC Bank Ltd. vi, Other miscellaneous expenses if any will be borne jointly. 5. Accommodation: a, Accommodation of the Guests for 21" November, 22" November and 24" November, 2014 will be arranged by BIBM b. Accommodation of the foreign Guests along with local guests from Dhaka for 23" November will be arranged by RDA, Bogra. Number of guests will be almost fifteen. 6. Dinner: A Reception Dinner on 21% November 2014 will be arranged by BB in honor of the visiting guests in presence of Honorable Governor, BB 7. Seminar and Field Visit at Bogra: a. RDA will arrange a seminar on 23 November 2014 at RDA Auditorium at 11:00am with participation of all SME Associations; Leading SME Entrepreneurs and bankers of Bogra, Gaibandha, Noagaon, Jessore, Dinajpur, Rajshahi and other surrounding areas. List of the invitees will be finalized by RDA with cooperation of Bangladesh Bank, Bogra, IDEB, Bogra and the Implementation Committee. b. After the seminar on 23" November 2014 at Bogra, RDA in cooperation with BB, Bogra will also arrange a field visit to Light Engineering Cluster of Bogra. Vehicle for Field Visit will also be arranged by RDA, Bogra. a. Vehicle for use in Dhaka will be provided by BB, BASIC Bank Ltd and IDLC Finance Ltd. b. The requirement for vehicle from 21" to 25" November 2014 will be intimated to the respective organization by the Implementation Committee. 9, MOU Signing: BWCCI, DCCI and IDEB will prepare draft MOU in assistance with the convener of the implementation committee Consequently, one Implementation Committee and one advisory Committee were formed unanimously to arrange the program successfully. Prior to the program, a meeting with Implementation and Advisory Committee will be held at BIBM. ‘The meeting thanked the Chair for giving his valuable time.
