How the Cold War Started


Theory I
No one really knows how the Cold War started,
Theory I is in WWII, Nazies attacked USSR and America
did not help them.

Theory II
The second theory is that the US and USSR were
arguing about how to rebuild Europe.

Cuban Missile Crisis


Soviet Union ships missiles to cuba aimed at the US. The US set up a
blockade, and later persuaded the UN to have Soviets back down.

Long Term Consequences


Consequence I
People lived in constant fear of nuclear war.

Consequence II
Countries had to pick a side either communists or
democracy.

NATO
NATO is democratic countries agree to back
each other. April 4, 1949 (against communist)

Warsaw Pact
Warsaw Pact was communist countries coming
together to back each other (against
democracy)

Effect On Other Countries


-In countries like Korea, Vietnam, and Afghanistan were
almost mini-wars during the Cold War

Korea- North attacked South America helps South.

Vietnam- North Attacked South almost lost America


supports South and then sent in troops.

Afghanistan- USSR sent in troops and US sent Afghans
