Best Piece Reflection Form
I chose this piece as my Best Piece because I felt very strongly about
the topic. Should or Should Not, the electoral college be abolished. The
Electoral College is a voting system that relies on two categories the
popular vote and electoral vote. This system is the basis of how American
citizens vote presidents into office. It is very flawed, and as you will see in
the document, I express my views very strongly.
The reader should expect to find a very opinionated view on the
American voting system. This persuasive composition includes many
examples to prove the main point that the Electoral College system is
flawed.
I hope that the reader gains the impression that there are both pros
and cons to this system. I hope the reader will gain knowledge on this topic,
and have their own opinion formed because of it.
Completing this assignment I learned two things how the Electoral
College works, and why it should not be in place. I will use this knowledge in
the future when I am able to register to vote. In the United States, citizens
over the age of eighteen are all guaranteed one vote per person. A citizen
would cast ballots for a slate of members of the Electoral College. These
electors decide (with the help of the citizen-casted ballots) which candidate
their state will vote for. And whichever candidate has the most electoralcollege votes, is elected.
