2. Now you will analyze your strengths and weaknesses based on your scores
for each category, and then set specific goals for improvement.
A. Strengths:

Choose one of the categories in which you scored the

highest and explain at least three reasons why your score is high in
this category. Do not simply repeat the wording from the rubric. Be
specific!

Sight-reading:
1. In middle school; I spent an entire year with an interim teacher and we just
played whatever music we felt like for a week and moved on, so despite never
fully learning any music, I got very good at sight reading.
2. Munoz emphasized the steps to being successful at sight-reading, such as
checking the key signature and title before we start every piece.
3. I practice my scales, and this helps me in all aspects of my playing, but
especially sight-reading
B. Areas in need of Improvement:

Based on your scores in each

category, now identify two areas in which you need to improve.
Explain three reasons why you received a low score. Do not simply
repeat the wording from the rubric. Be specific!

1.

In technique, I gave myself a 4, because I have issues with a

bouncing bow a lot, and need to apply more pressure or alter my bow
hold to fix it.
2.

In tone, I could improve my vibrato on my 1 st and 4th fingers, to

create a warmer sound

3. I also can improve my technique shifting, because sometimes,

instead of establishing my 1 st finger, I shoot for a note that I am
shifting to, so any subsequent notes are in danger of being out of tune.
3. Based on the results above, choose two areas that you need to improve in.
Set specific and realistic goals that will help you improve in the two areas
that you selected. Set goals that you can achieve within the next two
months.
Then tell exactly what you will do to achieve each goal.
Remember, there is ALWAYS room for improvement!
Improve my Vibrato
1. Practice my vibrato
2. Employ vibrato more often when I am practicing music, and not
just when I perform it.
Improve my technique while shifting
1. Do shifting drills and exercises whenever I practice.
2. Make sure to not be lazy while playing pieces, and instead of
finding notes based on ear, find them based on the first finger
