Arts Admin Lab Service to the Arts Management Association

You are required to successfully take four (4) semesters of lab in order to graduate from the Arts
Administration program. The first semester, ideally, is to be spent in a freshman seminar. The third
time you take lab should be in a consulting salon during the spring of your junior year. During both
of those specialized times you must attend lab class that is on the schedule. The other two semesters
you register for lab are up to you and may take place both semesters of the your sophomore year,
both semesters of your senior year, fall semester of your junior year, or some combination thereof.
During the semesters that you are not required to be the Lab classroom, you will meet the
requirements to pass the course (which is graded on a pass/fail scale) through service to the Arts
Management Association (AMA). This service will take the place of the 14 hours you would have
spent in class however it is accompanied by the flexibility of letting you choose how you serve the
organization and when. This is particularly important as you begin your working hours for Practicum
I, Practicum II, your Internship, and other outside commitments.
During the course of the semester (by the end of the last official week of classes) you must do the
following:

Serve a minimum of 10 hours doing various official tasks for AMA

Attend TWO (2) general body meetings for AMA
Attend ONE (1) AMA-sponsored or affiliated event

The official tasks may include, but are not limited to: assisting with the organization and production
of an event, assisting with marketing for an event, hanging flyers, and taking notes at meetings.
I order to learn more about tasks that will help you fulfill your 10 hour requirement, you may contact
AMA President, Brandon Ponzo at ponzob@rider.edu
As always, feel free to contact me via email if you have any questions.
Best,
