Representative Achievements
P&L Management, Operations Rationalized costs for CSI, resulting in strong turnaround. Installed
quality controls (QS9000) at 1,100 employee Mexican factory, producing 20% sales gain and profits,
despite adverse FrX and inflation. Enacted strategic plans for survival of EPEC subsidiaries, which
included bankruptcies, selling assets, restructuring debts, and directing litigation/negotiation in 30+
lawsuits. Applied statistical techniques and queuing theory to AMEX telephone service center,
effecting a 20% efficiency gain and problem resolution time improvement of 30%.
Business Development, Sales Devised new sales model for CSI that produced multi-million dollars in
new contracts and that was adopted company-wide. Successfully enhanced products for FirstCity
that produced 50% annual growth rates and put more than $1M to the bottom line. Closed more than
$7M in new client sales for CSI in first year selling for the company.
Finance Restructured $100M in troubled debt for PasoTex and Franklin Land on favorable terms.
Raised $6M equity and $3.5M revolving loan for a start-up. Remarkably, replaced $15M hostile
debtor-in-possession lender with a cooperative bank, allowing Border Steel survival through 5 year
bankruptcy.
M&A, Legal, Negotiation Among dozens of other M&As, devised creative divestitures for $.5B
subsidiaries that returned to El Paso Electric ten times what investment bankers believed possible.
Closed deals for scores of contracts on terms favorable to CSI, even after strong initial resistance.
Mediator for dozens of lawsuits for the El Paso Alternative Dispute Resolution Center. Led
negotiations for bargain purchase and successful subsequent sale of CSI.
