Maayong Gabii sa kaninyong tanan!
I am thrilled to be with you-Girls in Green- to congratulate
you for deciding to be part of the 38th National Encampment, to
express my gratitude, and to inspire you to learn and be
empowered to serve others.
Girl Scouting provides you with many opportunities. You are
present today because you will learn new things and skills this
encampment will offer. Your role is to seriously and actively join,
listen, and start sharing this new knowledge with your patrol and
friends. So as you go through this camp for the next five days, I
ask you to keep in mind and heart the powerful words in your
theme: Challenge, Achieve, and Serve.
IMAGINE. You are in the age of discovery discovering
yourself, your limits, and the world around you. The impact of
technology has definitely improved your lives and made living
easier. However, the social problems which affect you today are
still the same ones that affected the generations before you
poverty, illiteracy, health, conservation and environment, war,
even corruption, to name a few. The challenge now for you as Girl
Scouts is imagining ways to empower you to act with or without
the aid of technology. Believe me, your IMAGINATION will be the
seeds to the solution of our global problems!
ACHIEVE. Girl Scouting believes in the power of girls
thinking and working as one toward a better world. In this
movement, the Promise and Law serves as your guide to your
thinking, behaving, and acting. There is a purpose for your
existence, know this and achieve your goals and dreams but only
the things that will benefit for the greater good.
SERVE. Our Program boasts of the Eight-Point Challenge
that allows you to work on issues that affect you and the rest of

the youth in your community. You will not only earn badges but
also the learn ways of work, this helps you the meaning of service
and allow you to serve others using new knowledge and skills.
