Grade Level: 7 Content Area: Biology Beyond-the-Basic Productivity Tool Used: Inspiration Standards Addressed: https://www.georgiastandards.org/Pages/Default.aspx) S7L1. Students will investigate the diversity of living organisms and how they can be compared scientifically. a. Demonstrate the process for the development of a dichotomous key. b. Classify organisms based on physical characteristics using a dichotomous key of the six kingdom system (archaebacteria, eubacteria, protists, fungi, plants, and animals). Blooms Level of Critical Thinking: X Remembering X Understanding Applying Analyzing X Evaluating X Creating Description of how to implement in the class: Individually, students will create a visual map with characteristics of the six kingdoms. Two examples of each kingdom must also be provided with images. The students will use their textbooks to find the characteristics and use Nettrekker for images (this sight will be safe for middle schoolers). After the visual maps are created, the teacher will place them into a basic productivity tool presentation program (PowerPoint). The class will them watch the presentation and will go over characteristics found in each kingdom and look at the examples. Lastly, there will be a wrap up discussion to look at Protista and how it has characteristics from each kingdom and why the students believe this is. Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): This would be LoTI level 3. Students are assigned a topic and using technology to create something and also using technology to find images. Description of the sample BBPT file provided *: The program used is Inspiration. This BBPT allows for students to create visual maps, outlines and presentations to strengthen their knowledge base and increase understanding. Other comments about your proposed BBPT Activity: A Template was used from Inspiration9.
