Baker March 26 Silver Beach March 25 (Pending) West County April 1 Birchwood April 2 (Pending) Description: Dr. Seuss Literacy Night will be an event to encourage parent involvement in childrens literacy. At the event, books collected through a book drive put on by the Americorps literacy tutors will be distributed to families to promote reading in the home. Furthermore, the event will feature Dr. Seuss books checked out from the Bellingham Library for the families to read at the literacy night as well as library card applications to distribute. As a craft to promote fine motor skills, students will with the help of parents make a Cat in the Hat hat for them to take home. Additionally, food will be provided, including hummus, vegetables, goldfish and green eggs and ham made from vanilla pudding, vanilla wafers and green dye. To include all of the sites, Silver Beach also will host Carl Cozier and Roosevelt; Birchwood will host Birches, Alderwood, Heather Commons and Kellogg; and West County will host Lynden and Custer, while Mt. Baker will have its own event.
