Tabon Man discovered in Palawan

Palawan is one of the provinces in the Philippines which have naturallybeautiful tourist spots that have been nominated in 7 Wonders of the World.
In 1962, a National Museum anthropologist Robert Fox with his team
explored the municipality of Quezon particularly Poblacion wherein they
discovered a skull- cap (frontal bone), right jaw and teeth of a tabon man.
Based on their research, they found out that it was female Homo sapiens
whose age ranges from 22,000-24,000 years old. Also, they found tools,
jars, bones and jewelry which dates back fifty thousand years ago (magTXT,
2014). This discovery has indicated habitation 50,000 years ago while the
limestone found in it is believed to date back to the Lower Middle Miocene
Period which is equivalent to 25 million years back in human history
(magTXT).
Collaborating with the National Museum, the Department of Tourism
came up with a Detailed Tourism Development Plan for Tabon Caves that
provides the framework for preserving archaeological and pre-historic sites
and its environmental resources, as well as developing tourism in the area
with the aim of optimizing economic benefits. Major infrastructure
developmental projects are already in place and it is expected that Tabon
Caves will become a major archaeological and tourism destination for
domestic and foreign tourists in the country (ASBMD, 2014).
