Amixtureof2,4dihydroxyacetophenone(0.01mol)andarylaldehydes
(0.01mol)was
stirredinethanol(30mL)andthenanaqueoussolutionofKOH(40%,
15mL)wasaddedtoit.Thereactionmixturewaskeptovernightatroom
temperatureandthenitwaspouredintocrushediceandacidifiedwith
HCl.Thesolidseparatedwasfilteredandrecrystallizedfromethanol
Solidphasemicrowavemethod:
Toasolutionof2,4dihydroxyacetophenone(0.01mol)andsubstituted
aromaticaldehyde(0.01mol)inDMF(5mL)takenin100mLborosilflask,
wasaddedmontmorriloniteK10clay(4g).Themixturewasuniformly
mixedwithglassrodandairdriedtoremovethesolvent.Adsorbed
materialwasirradiatedinsideamicrowaveovenforspecifiedtime
mediumpowerlevel(600W).Afterthecompletionofthereaction
(monitoredbyTLC),thereactionmixturewascooledatroom
temperatureandtheproductwasextractedwithethanol(2x20mL).
