Walking Tour of Bogor Botanical Garden

Green, Fresh, and Enjoyable


Bogor Botanical Garden, an 80-hectare garden, opened in 1817
and today contains over 15,000 species of trees and plants. It
continues its tradition as a major center for botanical research.

1. The tour begins at the Bogor Botanical Garden Main Gate


on Otto Iskandar Dinata Street. The main gate is impressive
with such a mix style of Dutch with Hinduism interior. In the
main gate, there are ticket lockets for entering the garden.
Visitors just pay the entrance fee as much IDR 15,000 to enjoy
the tour.

2. Enter the garden; visitors can see Lady Raffles Memorial


Monument, a memorial of Olivia Raffles, wife of Sir Thomas
Stamford Bingley Raffles, stands in the ground of the garden
near to main gate on Kenari I Street. You can take picture
there.
3. Continue on Kenari I street, the small lake called Kolam
Gunting welcomes visitors. In this green-like, visitors can
see bird habitat in the trees which grow in the center of the
lake. And in the end of Kenari I Street, visitors can see
Reindwardt Monument
4. Turn Left, take the first street, and go ahead the street, visitors
can see Teijsmann Park. This park is dedicated to Johannes
Elias Teijsmann, who arranges the plants in Bogor Botanical
Garden. Visitors can take pictures and lay on the grass.
5. Continue the street then turn right, look around Zoologi
Museum and its display preserved collection of 10000 insects
and 2000 species of other kinds fauna.
6. Return to Lady Raffles Memorial Monument, go ahead the
street to Red Hangging Bridge which is phenomenal
because of a legend that if visitor cross the bridge with his/her
lover, their relationship will not last.
7. Take the footbridge to Kenari II Street, go ahead, and turn left
to Astrid Street which is between of Astrid Lawn and Randu
Lawn. Visitors can go picnic, take a lot of pictures, lay on the
grass, and play around in that two lawn
8. In the top of Randu Lawn, there is a caf a cafe inside of the
gardens. Previously called Cafe Dedaunan, now its Grand
Garden. It is occupied an old building was previously an
office. Have a spectacular view of the garden and enjoy the
food and beverages
9. Return to Astrid Street and then turn right to Orchid House. It
displays a lot of collection of orchids. Visitors can study and
know many species of Orchid.

This is where your tour ends. You can exit the garden through the
