Problem 1. Determine the maximum mass of body


B for which the system will be in equilibrium if the
mass of block A is 20 kg. The coefficient of friction
is 0.40 at all surfaces in contact. State the direction
of impending motion.

Problem 2. A 15 wedge of negligible mass is placed between


two bodies. Block A has a mass equal to 35 kg. The
coefficient of static friction is 0.30 at all surfaces of contact.
Determine the amount of force P required to remove the
wedge.
