PORT-A-CATH system for detailed instructions,

the system.

PORT-A-CATH implantable vascular access systems

are intended to permit repeated access to the vascular system for the parenteral delivery of medications,
fluids, and nutritional solutions, and for the sampling of
venous blood.
A system consists of a portal with a self-sealing silicone
septum accessible by percutaneous needle puncture,
and a single lumen radiopaque catheter.
PORT-A-CATH Kits include (1 each): Portal and
catheter/connector, PORT-A-CATH straight needle
(stainless steel/polypropylene or brass/Ni/Cr), blunt
needle* (stainless steel/polypropylene or brass/Ni/Cr),
vein pick (acetal copolymer), Point-Lok Sharps Safety
Device.
PORT-A-CATH Trays include (1 each): Portal and
catheter/connector, one PORT-A-CATH straight needle
(stainless steel/polypropylene or brass/Ni/Cr), blunt
needle* (stainless steel/polypropylene or brass/Ni/
Cr), vein pick (acetal copolymer), 18 G extra thin wall
introducer needle (stainless steel/polypropylene), vessel
dilator/sheath introducer assembly (polypropylene/
fluorinated ethylene propylene), one or two J guidewires

How to Calculate Priming Volumes

Priming volumes of catheters refer to nominal lengths

only. Volumes are reduced when the catheters are
trimmed. For a reduction in catheter length, calculate
priming volumes by using the following formula:
Reduced length (cm) nominal length (cm) x
nominal length priming volume = revised catheter
priming volume
To determine priming volume of the system, add the
revised catheter priming volume to the portal volume.

Calcul de volumes damorage

Le volume damorage des cathters fait rfrence

leur longueur nominale seulement. Le volume est
rduit si le cathter est coup. Lors de la rduction de
longueur dun cathter, calculer le volume damorage
selon la formule suivante:
Rduction de longueur (cm) longueur nominale
(cm) x volume damorage de la longueur nominale
= volume rvis damorage de cathter.
Pour dterminer le volume damorage du systme,
ajouter le volume damorage rvis du cathter au
volume damorage de la chambre daccs.

Anwendungsgebiete

PORT-A-CATH implantierbare Zugangssysteme ermglichen den wiederholten Zugang zum Gefsystem zur
parenteralen Zufuhr von Medikamenten, Nhrlsungen
und anderen Flssigkeiten und zur Abnahme von
vensem Blut.

Allgemeines

(Polypropylen/mit Fluor behandeltes Ethylenpropylen),

einen oder zwei J-frmigen Fhrungsdraht (Edelstahl),
PORT-A-CATH Nadel (90 geb) (Edelstahl/Polypropylen
oder Messing/Ni/Cr), GRIPPER PLUS nichtstanzende
Nadel (Edelstahl/PVC), tunnellungsinstrument (Edelstahl)
(2 Stck): Spritzen (Polypropylen/synthetisches Isopren)
(3 Stck): Point-Lok Nadelsicherheits Vorrichtung.

Das System besteht aus einem Port mit einem selbstschlieenden Silikonseptum, das mit einer perkutanen
Nadel punktiert wird, sowie einem einlumigen rntgendichten Katheter.

PORT-A-CATH Kits enthalten (1 Stck): Port und

Berechnen des Vorfllvolumens

PORT-A-CATH Schalen enthalten (1 Stck): Port

und Katheter/Sicherungsring, gerade PORT-A-CATH
Nadel (Edelstahl/Polypropylen oder Messing/Ni/Cr), eine
nicht-stanzende Nadel* (Edelstahl/Polypropylen oder
Messing/Ni/Cr), Venenhaken (Acetalmischpolymer),
extra-dnnwandige Einfhrnadel Gre 18 G (Edelstahl/
Polypropylen), Gef-Dilatator/Einfhrschleuse

Die angegebenen Vorfllvolumen fr Katheter beziehen

sich ausschlielich auf die Nennlngen. Das Vorfllvolumen verringert sich, wenn der Katheter gekrzt
wird. Fr reduzierte Katheterlngen kann das bentigte
Vorfllvolumen nach der folgenden Formel berechnet
werden.
Reduzierte Lnge (cm) Nennlnge (cm) x Nennlngen-Vorfllvolumen = Revidiertes Kathetervorfllvolumen.
Zur Bestimmung des Vorfllvolumens fr das System
mssen das revidierte Katheter- und das Port-Vorfllvolumen addiert werden.

De implanteerbare PORT-A-CATH systemen voor

vasculaire toegang zijn ontworpen om herhaaldelijke
toegang mogelijk te maken tot het vasculaire systeem
voor de parentherale toediening van medicatie, vochten, en
voedingsoplossingen, en voor de afname van veneus
bloed.
Een systeem bestaat uit een poort met een zelfsluitend

Berekening van de volumes om te primen

De volumes om katheters te primen verwijzen alleen

naar de nominale lengte. De volumes worden kleiner als
de katheters ingekort worden. Als de katheter verkort
wordt, kunnen de volumes om te primen aan de hand
van de volgende formule berekend worden:
Verkorte lengte (cm) nominale lengte (cm) x
prime-volume voor de nominale lengte =
aangepast prime-volume van katheter.
Om het prime-volume van het systeem te bepalen, telt
u het volume van de gewijzigde katheter op bij het
volume van de poort.

PORT-A-CATH implanterbare systemer for vens

Et system bestr av en portal med en selvtettende
silikonskillevegg som pnes ved punktering med en
perkutan nl, og et enkeltlumen kateter som ikke er
gjennomtrengelig for rntgenstrler.

Oppfyllingsvolumene til katetre refererer kun til nominell

lengde. Volumene reduseres nr katetrene trimmes. Ved
en reduksjon av kateterlengden, beregnes oppfyllingsvolumet ved hjelp av flgende formel:

Cmo calcular los volmenes de cebado

Los volmenes de cebado de los catteres se refieren

a las longitudes nominales solamente. Los volmenes
se reducen cuando se recortan los catteres. Para una

Como Calcular os Volumes de Inicializao

Os volumes de inicializao dos cateteres referem-se
apenas aos comprimentos nominais. Os volumes ficam
reduzidos quando os cateteres so cortados. Para se
reduzir o comprimento do cateter, calcule os volumes
de inicializao usando a seguinte frmula:

Comprimento reduzido (cm) comprimento nominal

(cm) x volume de inicializao do comprimento
nominal = volume de inicializao do cateter
rectificado.
Para determinar o volume de inicializao do sistema,
adicione o volume de inicializao do cateter rectificado
ao volume da porta.

Indicazioni

I sistemi di accesso vascolare impiantabili PORT-ACATH sono ideati per consentire accessi ripetuti al sistema vascolare per la somministrazione parenterale di
farmaci, fluidi e soluzioni nutritive, nonch per eseguire
prelievi del sangue.

Informazioni generali

Un sistema consiste di una porta dotata di un setto

autosigillante in silicone, accessibile per puntura percutanea, e di un catetere radiopaco a lume singolo.
I kit PORT-A-CATH comprendono (1 ciascuno):
porta e un catetere/connettore, ago diritto PORT-ACATH (acciaio inossidabile/polipropilene o ottone/Ni/
Cr), ago smusso* (acciaio inossidabile/polipropilene
o ottone/Ni/Cr), pinza per vena (copolimero acetale),
Point-Lok Dispositive di sicurezza contro ferite da
tagliente.
I vassoi PORT-A-CATH comprendono
(1 ciascuno): porta e un catetere/connettore, ago
diritto PORT-A-CATH (acciaio inossidabile/polipropilene
o ottone/Ni/Cr), ago smusso* (acciaio inossidabile/
polipropilene o ottone/Ni/Cr), pinza per vena (copolimero
acetale), ago calibro 18 per introduttore per pareti
extrasottili (acciaio inossidabile/polipropilene), gruppo
dilatatore per vasi/introduttore con guaina (polietilene

ed etilene-propilene fluorurato), un o due filo guida

a J (acciaio inossidabile), ago PORT-A-CATH angolato
(acciaio inossidabile/polipropilene o ottone/Ni/Cr), ago
non recidente di sicurezza GRIPPER PLUS (acciaio inossidabile/PVC), tunnellizzatore (acciaio inossidabile)
(2 ciascuno): siringhe (polipropilene/isoprene sintetico)
(3 ciascuno): Point-Lok Dispositive di sicurezza contro
ferite da tagliente.

Calcolo dei volumi di priming

I volumi di priming dei cateteri si riferiscono solo alle

lunghezze nominali. I volumi diminuiscono quando si
riduce la lunghezza dei cateteri. Per calcolare i volumi
di priming dei cateteri la cui lunghezza stata ridotta
usare la seguente formula.
Lunghezza ridotta (cm) lunghezza nominale
(cm) x volume di priming della lunghezza nominale
= volume di priming revisionato del catetere.
Per determinare il volume di priming del sistema, sommare il volume di priming del catetere, calcolato in base
alla formula precedente, al volume della porta.
