MASII WOMEN ELDERS LUNCHEON

Today, Wednesday, July 15th, 2015, I hosted a luncheon for grandmothers from
my village in Masii. These ladies brought me up together with my late
grandmother Martha Teve and my parents Thomas Mutua and Agnes Mutua.
Every so often, my late grandfather Moses Mbithi Nganga would host them
while I was a young boy and I have known them all of my life.
These grandmothers are part of a group who pray for me every day and I have
made it so far in life because of their prayers and support. I am greatful. I am
only sad that my grandmother, Martha Teve, who used to hang out with these
friends of hers, died just before I was elected Governor.
I have committed myself to ensure that mothers and grandmothers such as
these ones in my county and Ukambani at large, do not carry jerry cans of
water from the river. I plan, with Gods help to have piped water in every
household and to ensure that our mothers have proper healthcare and food.
The shame of food relief also has to be ridden off from Ukambani not with
words alone but action.
The beautiful grandmothers said that they were greatful to the anti-illicit brew
operation that is ongoing. They told me to thank President Uhuru Kenyatta for
the operation because situations have been very bad at the village. They said,
and I quote: Now we can start to see mothers being pregnant again.
They were also greatful for the various projects by my Government such as
ambulances, roads, security, job creation and the ongoing water project.
I thank the Almighty God for giving me the opportunity to serve these
grandmothers and my people of Ukambani and our amazing country Kenya.
