Universit de Rennes 1 is a comprehensive, multi-campus university devoted to


education and research. The universitys 19 components (departments, institutes,
and schools) enroll 24,600 students, 2,200 of whom are in continuing education or
apprenticeship programs. The faculty and staff include more than 1,844 teaching
and research faculty and 1,363 administrative, technical, and library personnel.
The university is open to international cooperation, with 143 international agreements
and more than 200 Erasmus agreements. It enrolls more than 3,000 international
students.

schools, 1 space sciences observatory.

Strengths
A founding member of the Universit Europenne de Bretagnehigher education and
research cluster and of several national and international networks, Universit de
Rennes 1 has evidenced the will to raise its international visibility and power to attract
top students and faculty.
The university provides individual tutorials to ensure that international students in
exchange programs adapt quickly and smoothly to French academic life. Exchange
students are eligible for housing in the cit universitaire through an agreement with the
regional student-service agency. They also have access to French-language courses
and to a year-long program of cultural activities.
