Away
My home life,
my television,
my computer,
my unthinking pattern of living,
my unquestioning routine of chores,
my well worn path,
by its negation
becomes so much more apparent
when I go away.
Out on the road,
busking and traveling,
working the streets,
sleeping in my car.
It is the book that I read,
that I take away with me,
that I would not usually read at home
because I would be distracted.
A space in time
where I find time to think
and fish for new thoughts.
It is the unknown,

a place where I've never been before.

Blimpy
Everything was delectable.
Our faces were made to eat.
The ground was sugar icing.
The sky was strawberry jam.
We traveled far and wide.
Across the deep fat ocean.
From spicy cinnamon deserts.
To chocolate saucy swamps.
This world was made to ingest.
So we scoffed and swallowed away.
Until we both became fat dough nuts.
Too blimpy and round.
This sweet and tasty planet.

Has now been replaced,

By the two fat dough nuts
Two blimpy and round.

The banter
between the applied and the pure.
That Koch triangle:
You asked, "Can you do that with any
polygon?"
and the tutor just rolled her eyes.
That Open University summer school:
You asked, "Why don't people be more
original?"
I suggested, "If you don't follow the crowd

then you don't get to evolve."

You said, "Religious faith is like a datum
point,
it needed to be invented as a starting
point."
I went to my car
and it had been broken into,
my radio had been taken.
I got an incident number 154736
with three prime factors
and a crime number too.

Dark Matter Thoughts

In a place so remote
infinitesimally small
our minds go to this place.
Paradoxically
the hyper dimensionality
of the infinitesimally small
has more room
than the heavens above,
and generate Our thoughts
that we share
as spontaneous creations

from the dark matter that is space.

Quantum objects appear
from the dark matter space,
these quantum objects
are our thoughts.
Thinking becomes
sub atomic particles that create and die.
Maybe my thoughts one day
can create an object that will not die.

Head
Turns
Her
icy
thoughts

hang,
as
a
pendulum
of
indecision:
Cold
crystal
jewelry
dangles.

My Beautiful Cup Cake

She was a cup cake

my delicatessen,
sitting on her doily
the icing on the cake.
But now she's a Fat rascal
make no mistake
with Fondant Fancy friends
I just had to take.
To have your cake and eat it
for lucks sake,
I took the cherry,
I made the break.
Beating in the eggs
we made the mix,
enough ingredients
we had six.

Pink Floyd
The leading lights in progressive rock
Pink Floyd have left the stage:
They started up in 1965
and ended it all in 2014.
They were a bunch of architects.
If that is the right collective noun?
Their first singer and songwriter
Syd Barrett struggled with mental health,
from too many drugs that damaged his
brain

he lost his way.

He died in 2006, aged sixty.
Their second singer songwriter
and bass player, in the seventies,
Roger Waters had his creative time.
Leading Pink Floyd on before they
threw him out.
On the keyboards
Richard Wright died of cancer in 2008
at the age of sixty five.
Nick Mason on drums
Held a steady beat.
David gilmore, guitar hero
plays some of the greatest licks,
with songs like 'Comfortably Numb',
'High Hopes' and
'Shine On You Crazy Diamond'.
with an astounding discography
over 250 million records were sold world
wide.
They sang about disillusionment,
exploitation, oppression, alienation,

insanity and war.

Their light show was astounding
You could feel the heat from all that light.
Generally Girls don't like prog rock.
The audience is full of geeky blokes
and so I write this poem.
seriously though,
this band smokes.

Unreachable
Dreams come to me at night
but in the daylight
I examine myself
to a meticulous degree
and the piercing of my sight
has destroyed the human in me.
The window of opportunity
still shines its sunshine rays
into my house of dreams,

but the window is behind me.

A place in time that is unreachable.

We Are All Equal Now

I saw myself
I have a double.
The doppelganger ran.
I chased him through the streets
As sirens blared and alarm bells rang.
We are all equal now
Familiarity breeds contempt.
If I ever catch you
I will have to take you out.
I reached you in the cul de sac.
I saw the panic in your face,
As my violent reactions and I
broke that familiar face.
We are all equal now,
but I'm more equal than you.
I look more like the others.
Your face is black and blue.
I said I'd have to take you out
and now that you are nothing,
It's not about inequality
because now you don't exist.

We are all equal now,

but there's only so much space.
"You dare to square to me
and I'll put you in your place."
