What is civil service?

Acivil servant is a person in the public sector

employed for a government department or agency on

the basis of professional merit as proven by
competitive examinations
The Civil Services of India can be classified into two
types
1. TheAll India Services
2. Central Civil Services

The recruits are university graduates (or above)

selected through a rigorous system of examinations,
called theCivil Service Examination(CSE)conducted
by theUnion Public Service Commission(UPSC).

Prestige and excellence
One year long process includes:
1. Prelims
2. Mains and interviews

C.S.S.C meant for:

Provides guidance to students who are

interested in a career in the Indian civil

service.
