Adirectors_noteB

The month before we started rehearsals I began to reflect on how not

living through this epic era could very well inhibit me. Now, after
months of rehearsal, I can honestly say to myself that the unknown
was not a disadvantage at all. Through research, rehearsal, pamphlets,
librettos, chords, measures, blood, sweat and tears, I discovered that
I knew how to get my cast, crew and myself on stage with the best
show possible. Immanuel Kant once said. I had therefore to remove
knowledge in order to make room for belief, and thats exactly what
I did.
I began to analyze my personal relationships, and I dont mean just
hanging out with them, either. I began to think about the words I said
to my friends and how it would affect my relationships with them in
the future. I repeatedly thought of what they could learn from this
show, and if they would use their new knowledge to make better
decisions so I would have one more day with them. That last statement
sounded selfish, but that is how I truly feel.
A very good friend of mine has been diagnosed as HIV+. Throughout
our conversations, whether up or down, I now see more meaning into
the phrase another day. Working with this cast the past few months
has allowed Jonathan Larsons words and his message of celebrating
life to sit with me daily. As I prepare to move and say goodbye to my
friends here, I am truly grateful for my time with them.
I would like to thank Caitlyn, the assistant director and my best
friend, for her support and love during this show and our time
together. To my cast, thank you for the little ways you showed me
how to celebrate life, particularly Carolee, as you have formed into this
beautiful and mature young woman, or Zak become the
rockstar I know he is everyday. Ultimately, the most rewarding
experience in this show was watching my entire cast fight through
their personal battles and blows life and the show has given them, to
come out like a phoenix rising from the ashes.
I love all of you. Break legs.
NO DAY BUT TODAY!
