My Definition of Engineering:
To harness the materials and laws of nature by applying a rigorous knowledge of science, both
mathematical and natural, in a practical, economical and efficient fashion, in order to make
them work for and be used by humanity to better themselves, thereby making the world a
better place. Tasks that engineers do include developing, testing and evaluating designs,
creating and testing models, working with others as a team, identifying, analysing and solving
problems and using analytical, conceptual and planning skills.

Two Different Engineering Disciplines:

CIVIL ENGINEERING

A civil engineer uses his knowledge and experience from his education and career in order to
plan, oversee and/or coordinate various construction projects, for example, highway
construction and waste management. A civil engineer will be needed to consider various factors
in the course of performing their duties, such as the location of their site, or the processes
required to complete the job.
They must be able to ensure that all laws, regulations and guidelines are followed, such as land
use and safety laws. A good civil engineer must have good communication skills if they are to be
able to work as part of a team, liaising with colleagues and clients.
CHEMICAL ENGINEERING

Chemical engineers use their skills and knowledge to transform raw materials into useful
everyday products, such as plastics, medicines, fertilisers and food additives, while ensuring
that any health and safety standards are met. Chemical engineers may work in many diverse
environments. Some may work in laboratories, while others may work in industrial
manufacturing plants.
Chemical engineering often interfaces with other types of engineering, for example electronic
engineering, where the expertise of chemical engineers is often needed to help electronic
engineers design production processes or manufacture computer parts and electronics.
