The principle of language learning that tickles me most is: If you want to
communicate with speakers of the language, you will be more motivated
to learn it. Nothing you would learn if you do not try. If one wants to learn a certain
language, he or she has to practice and develop it. Such principle invokes about
how a certain language is acquired through excessive practicing or speaking.
Having been stationed at Manuel Ganzon Advincula Elementry School, Jamindan
District, as a permanent Elementary teacher, I have had experienced problems as
far as dialect is concerned. Since it is an IP area, the inhabitants have their own
speaking dialects- a mixture of Jamindanganon and Akeanon with a falling
intonation.
During my arrival in that area, I felt difficulty of adjustment towards adopting their
dialect, since I am a Dumaraonon and too, we have our own dialect- a combination
of pure Hiligaynon and Karay-a. Such created some quandary towards my
teaching and dealing with the populace.
The same problem encountered by my learners- they could not understand my
dialect. With such predicament, I found ways and means just to resolve the
problem. Gradually, my learners and I took time in elucidating our terms including
the articulation. Frequently, I have been involving myself with the people around
that area just to adopt the way they speak out. As times go by, somehow, all of us
can already comprehend one another.
Therefore, I absolutely believe that through practice, one would be able to be
motivated in learning a dialect or language in general.
