Referenced Standards ASTM "AASHTO Ds 149 pins 1179 base 720 Et M92 2. Replace the second sentence in Section 4.2 of ASTM D 113-99 with the following: “The volume of water shall be not less than 10 L. The depth of water shall be not less than 50 mm and such that the mold can be immersed to a depth of 25 mm. The water in the bath shalt be substantially free from oil and slime or other organic growth.” 3. Add the following sentence to Section 4.4 (1999) of ASTM D 113-99. “The thermometer should be calibrated by the Method of Verification and Calibration of Liquid-in-Glass Thermometers (ASTM Designation: E 77).” 4. The folowing sentence in Section 5.1 of ASTM D 113-99 i nt included in AASHTO 51-00, “Strain the melted sample through a 300-um sieve conforming to Specification E 11." 5. Add the following Note after Section 5.1 of ASTM D 113-99. Note—Mixtures of glycerine and dextrine or tale (3 g glycerine to about 5 g dextrine or tale has been used satisfactorily), Dow-Corning Silicone Stop-Cock Grease, or a mixture of castor oil and Versamid 900 (100:1 mixture by weight heated to 204 to 232°C (400 to 450°F) and stirred until homogeneous) have been proven suitable. Other release agents may be used provided results obtained are comparable to those obtained when using one of the above.
