A. Personal Statement
I have experience in creating a protocol, implementation of data collection in an observational setting, and
evaluation of data at UCSD for my undergraduate requirements. I also have hands-on experience involving
research with the Center for Reproduction of Endangered Species (CRES) at the San Diego Zoo. I am very
interested in translating my skills to focus on Dental Hygiene research to improve access to care to
underserved populations. For my Capstone project for the Masters of Science at University of California, San
Francisco, I studied Supervising Nurse Administrators Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices of Oral Care in
Long-Term Care Settings.
Having invaluable work experience as a clinical hygienist in the Faculty Group Practice at UCSF has
broadened my perspective working with a variation of clients ranging from special needs to geriatric. Being
able to work along side dental faculty also has given me a new perspective on the practice of dentistry and the
importance of thorough examination and the value in individualized care.
