The following numbers are Christmas toys collected for children at the Salvation Army during

the month of December. The numbers are ordered from least to greatest.

22, 24, 25, 26, 26, 29, 31, 31, 35, 37, 39, 39, 43, 43, 48, 50, 53, 54, 69, 71, 73, 73, 81, 83, 87

Median: 43
Mode: 26, 31, 39, 43, 73
Range: 65
Mean: 47.65

Q1 = 30
Q3 = 70
Lower Extreme: 22
Upper Extreme: 87
IQR = 40

1. To find the median, list the numbers of the data set in numerical order. Then identify
which number appears in the middle of the list.
2. The mean is found by adding all of the numbers in the data list then divide it by the
number of data entries.
3. Then mode is the most occurring number(s) in the data list.
4. To calculate the range subtract the smallest number from the largest number. Number
given will be the range.
5. To calculate Q1 from the data list add 29+31 then divide the answer by 2.
29+31=60/2=30
6. To calculate Q3 from the data list add 69+71 then divide the answer by 2.
69+71=140/2=70
7. The lower extreme is the smallest number on the data list which is 22.
8. The upper extreme is the biggest number on the data list which is 87.
9. To calculate the IQR subtract the Q1 (30) from the Q3 (70) = 40.
